AMC customers will “most likely” be able to purchase tickets with Dogecoin and Shiba Inu from March.
AMC CEO Adam Aron said in a statement on Twitter; The world’s largest movie theater chain “likely” this March with the most popular meme cryptocurrencies Dogecoin (DOGE) and To Shiba Inu (SHIB) announced that it will add support.
“I have been asked repeatedly when AMC expects to routinely accept Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for all payments made through the AMC website and mobile app. With the exact timing likely in March, we were told we are still on the right track for implementation to happen in Q1 as promised.”

Once support is added, two dog cryptocurrencies will also be accepted for any payment made through the company’s website.
As previously reported by KoinFinans, Aron conducted a Twitter poll in late October to find out if the company’s customers would like to see the Shiba Inu among the cryptocurrencies accepted as payment.
The vast majority of respondents favored the addition of SHIB to AMC’s pay program. As a result, in mid-November, the AMC boss tweeted that the movie giant would add support for the Shiba Inu in the next four months.
Amid the DOGE and SHIB rivalry, the decision to include both coins as a form of payment was considered a wise move by the community on behalf of AMC. With the addition of DOGE and SHIB to the crypto payment list, AMC has managed to win the eyes of both competing communities.
AMC’s Crypto Plans
The CEO of the AMC movie giant has never shied away from expressing his interest in exploring and incorporating decentralized products into the company’s day-to-day operations. Adam Aron even stated that the company is finally looking for ways to launch its own cryptocurrency. He also revealed that AMC is currently in talks with several major Hollywood studios to create a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) Collaboration.
“Today I can confirm that we have been researching for the past few months with third parties both how we can accept cryptocurrency and whether it is possible for AMC to consider launching our own cryptocurrency. Similarly, I can confirm to you today that we are in talks with several major Hollywood studios about the concept of joint venture commemorative NFTs for major movies shown in our theaters.”
