The consequences of the sanctions for the energy supply

Berlin, Dusseldorf Europe is dependent on energy supplies from Russia. That makes sanctions a tightrope walk with regard to Russia. The energy industry is therefore initially exempt from the extensive restrictions with regard to the international payment system Swift.

Nevertheless, it is already clear that the war between Russia and Ukraine will permanently change the European energy world. What are the consequences of the current decisions, especially for the German energy supply? Here are answers to the most important questions.

How much money will Russia lose per day if gas stops flowing to Germany and Europe?

According to the Federal Statistical Office, the value of imports of crude oil and natural gas from Russia last year totaled 19.4 billion euros. According to the authority, 9.7 billion euros are accounted for by crude oil. Consequently, the value for natural gas must also be set at 9.7 billion euros.
