The British Want Bitcoin (BTC) Banned!

The environmental impact of Bitcoin mining has been a hot topic in the crypto market for a long time. The excessive amount of energy used in Bitcoin mining was criticized by all segments and it was claimed that the amount of energy used in mining was almost more than the amount of energy used by some countries.

While countries are trying to try different ways to reduce the amount of energy used in Bitcoin mining and to combat climate change related to it, the survey conducted by the British company YouGov revealed that the British support the ban of Bitcoin for environmental reasons.

While 45% of Britons support the banning of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies on the grounds that they cause climate change, the rate of those who oppose the ban remained at 18%.

Looking at the results, the age difference between those who support the ban is also quite remarkable. While a high percentage of those over 65 support the ban, only 21% of young people aged 18-24 support the ban.

It is also striking that there is a gender discrimination in the prohibition issue. Although there is not much difference between men and women in terms of their support for the ban, men who oppose the ban are twice as likely as women.

When asked whether a ban on Bitcoin mining would be effective in tackling climate change, only 26% of Britons said they thought it would.

Although the British want Bitcoin to be banned due to its environmental effects, they think that it will not contribute much to the fight against climate change.
