The currently available M1 MacBook Pro 13 will be replaced by the M2-chip MacBook Pro 14 in 2H of 2022. It will receive a slight price increase over the previous generation. Alongside this release timeframe we will get the redesigned M2 MacBook (Air).
In other words, according to the claim, Apple will re-release the 13-inch Pro model by updating it, while it will evolve the 13-inch Pro model into a new 14-inch version. Of course, no information has been shared about the design of the devices yet. Therefore, it is not notched, and there is a high probability that it will come with the screens of its predecessor. In this way, it will not block the 14-inch MacBook Pro, which is currently on sale.
However, another claim that has emerged is that Apple will introduce the Air and Pro models, which it will introduce at the end of this year, with the M2 processor, and it will introduce Pro devices using M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in the next 2023. In other words, the company will continue to progress in 2 different series.
In addition, it is said that iMac models will also receive the M2 update directly, instead of the M1 Pro and M1 Max. Of course, another important issue about which chip the devices will use here will be shaped by whether the company will offer the M2 processor as a single, just like in the M1, or as 2 variants under the names Pro and Max.
