Dusseldorf Within two years, the price of gas heating has risen by 66 percent. If it still cost 6,000 euros in 2021, it is currently 10,000 euros. This means that the fossil heating system only occupies second place among the most expensive heating systems. Wood heating is the top choice.
Figures from the Federal Association of Consumer Organizations show how expensive heating systems have become. The evaluation is exclusively available to the Handelsblatt. Energy consultant Stefan Materne from the Consumer Protection Agency says: “The market is overheated.”
In 2021, an air-to-water heat pump still cost EUR 20,000 including installation, but two years later it is already EUR 31,000 on average. From 2021 to 2022, the air-to-water heat pump has become 20 percent more expensive, and a year later even by 29 percent.

But not only the prices for heat pumps have risen sharply. Pellet heating systems, for example, have also become significantly more expensive.
