Frankfurt “Risk off” – out of the risk. This has been the motto on the financial markets so far this year. Not only the prices of stocks, but also those of bonds and cryptocurrencies have fallen more sharply than they have in a long time. Only commodities brought investors good profits.

The main reason for the disastrous development of the other asset classes is the pivot of the central banks. For years, central banks have flooded the markets with money. Now they are starting to raise interest rates. The monetary authorities are reacting to the massive increase in inflation.

Inflation rates have already risen significantly in the past year. In addition, supply bottlenecks and Corona have been issues that have also weighed on the stock exchanges since 2020. Nevertheless, the courage to take risks on the markets was rewarded with rising prices last year and, bottom line, also in 2020.
