Berlin Once a year, usually in early summer, landlords give their tenants the service charge statement, which then has to make additional payments for the previous year. As a rule, the costs increase every year – but the upcoming billing could be particularly tough.
And there are two main reasons for this: Since 2021, a price has been charged for carbon dioxide emissions in the building sector in Germany, which will be taken into account in the forthcoming bill for the first time. The drastically increased energy prices due to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine then primarily drive the billing for the year 2022.
At the request of the Handelsblatt, the Haus & Grund owners’ association has now calculated four examples of how high the additional burdens could be in 2022 compared to the previous year.
