Technology will strengthen Turkey’s socio-economic growth!

Technology continues to drive powerful change and transformation in businesses and industries around the world. “Turkey’s Digital Transformation Index 2021 Report” prepared by the Informatics Industry Association (TÜBİSAD), reveals how much Turkey’s digitalization index increased in 2021, which was 3.03 in 2020. Here are the details…

Technology is the key to growth

Turkey’s digitalization index, which was 3.03 in 2020, increased to 3.24 in 2021. At this point, experts draw attention to the fact that we should not forget how technology has come to the fore in our lives during the pandemic period. Işıl Hasdemir, General Manager of Dell Technologies Turkey, used the following statements on the subject:

In this period when we are experiencing rapid changes in the way we do business and technology, organizations across Turkey are focusing on transforming their IT infrastructures that enable them to compete in a hyper-digital world. This digital transformation agenda represents the efforts to improve sectors such as health, banking and education and public services in our country.

As we enter 2022, our conversations with our customers and business partners in Turkey center around one common theme: How should we handle digital transformation in the long run? Undoubtedly, as the technology industry continues to evolve rapidly, we must focus our attention on the changes that will drive transformation and accelerate social and economic growth over the next decade.

Hasdemir also touched on the opportunities that these changes will bring, and shared his predictions about the technological innovations awaiting Turkey and the world in 2022 and beyond.

Data will stand out over the next 10 years

Data is now emerging as the new currency. Organizations want to embrace transformation in their operations, business practices and processes and extract maximum value from data.

On the other hand, they make an effort to ensure that the right data is transferred to the right place at the right time. As data drives the wheel of innovation, CIOs will make data visibility one of their top IT requirements as we enter 2022.

We will witness organizations accelerate their digital transformation by simplifying and automating their IT infrastructure, and consolidate their systems and services with holistic solutions that provide greater control and clarity.

The most important element of success in digital transformation: Data security

Digital transformation requires a durable cyber foundation to ensure security and trust. Cyber security in Turkey has become a critical priority for government agencies and businesses thanks to rapid digitalization. For example, Turkey’s National Cyber Security Strategy and Action Plan aims to strengthen national cybersecurity strategies with strict cybercrime regulations, thereby protecting critical infrastructure.

The existence of a solid recovery strategy is critical to ensuring that business can resume. Therefore, organizations should consider recovery as an important part of their overall risk management strategy.

Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) also need to research technologies and services that will improve cybersecurity and help them survive devastating cyberattacks with minimal damage.

Key to business success Simplifying IT

Choice, flexibility, investment protection, technologies designed for today and the future – at the edge, core or cloud. Organizations are looking for a connected ecosystem that can bring together IT infrastructure, applications, devices and security to achieve true business transformation.

But the increasingly diverse cloud landscape is causing IT complexity. Therefore, having a multicloud strategy that unifies environments and reduces risk will be key to success.

Intelligent computers will make working and gaming smoother, smarter and more fun

Technology will continue to evolve as people adapt to hybrid working models. We will soon see a combination of artificial intelligence, cloud and advanced connectivity to improve user experiences with devices.

For example, smart software will help your device understand when you don’t want to be seen in a video conference. New apps and services will continue to make collaboration easier and more organic.

We will see that improvements are made in terms of functionality in the systems we use. According to the “Agenda of Human Resources Leaders” report prepared by PwC Turkey, 94% of HR leaders agree that the hybrid working model will be permanent.

Artificial Intelligence, 5G and Machine Learning gain momentum

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) will increase as digital economies grow and governments bring technology to the fore in their activities. We will see this picture in Turkey as well as in the rest of the world.

Turkey’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2021-2025) points out that artificial intelligence technologies will have a greater impact on the global economic structure than the internet revolution. On the other hand, in line with this strategy, Turkey aims to be among the top 20 countries in international artificial intelligence indices and plans to have artificial intelligence contribute up to 5 percent of GDP.

The situation is not different in the private sector in Turkey. According to TUBISAD’s Information and Communication Technologies Sector 2020 Market Data and Trends Report, the rate of companies stating that artificial intelligence will transform their companies within 3 years is 75%, and the rate of companies stating that it will transform their industry is 61 percent.

In addition to these developments in the field of Artificial Intelligence, the proliferation of 5G, which enables the proliferation of IoT devices in Turkey, will provide increased automation in business and ease of access to data/analytics. In this direction, the “End-to-End Domestic and National 5G” project carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure continues. In the statement made by the Ministry, it was reported that the 5G tender will be held at the end of 2022 and that Turkey’s first 5G services will be given by the operators in 2023.

Therefore, there is no time to waste in adapting business processes to technologies such as 5G, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. In summary, organizations need to know and understand the ways to leverage the latest technologies to adapt to the speed of change and the digital future. It is clear that technologies such as cloud, AI, ML, Edge and IoT, storage, data analytics, security will continue to be at the forefront of IT investments.

These technologies will also rapidly change how organizations must operate to be successful in the hybrid and digital age. In the time since the beginning of the pandemic, we have seen that technology-driven innovation plays an extremely important role in the survival of vital industries. If these technologies are used effectively, we can say that Turkey will lead this global journey to “build better” in the long run.
