T-Mobile and SpaceX will launch 5G satellite phone service!

The idea of satellite internet has been on the agenda of the whole world for many years. Although Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites are currently the industry leader and basic service provider, they are not unrivaled. However, a new agreement was reached between SpaceX and the operator named T-Mobile. In this way, Musk’s satellites will be able to provide 5G satellite service to smartphones. In other words, the need for base stations will be eliminated.

T-Mobile and SpaceX rolled up their sleeves for 5G satellite phone service!

SpaceX, the aerospace company of Elon Musk, has reached an agreement with T-Mobile for 5G satellite phone service. Accordingly, the orbiting satellites of Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX, will eliminate the need for base stations for contracted operators.

SpaceX currently has more than 2,000 satellites in orbit. Moreover, Musk managed to get permission from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to increase this number to 40 thousand by 2027, although there were objections by scientists.

Starlink has discounted internet prices!

Starlink has discounted internet prices!

Starlink, which is one of Elon Musk’s crazy projects and provides high-speed internet service from satellite, has discounted internet prices.

Of course, what scientists are really against is about the positions of these satellites. Because, unlike the others, Starlink satellites are not in the middle (2 thousand – 35 thousand km) but in the low earth orbit (160- 2 thousand km). So close enough for us to see it with the naked eye. So it will be a big problem for observatories and astronomers when the number increases 20-30 times.

But the FCC thinks the payoff on this business is worth it. Because in today’s conditions, it will be possible to have regions where the internet does not reach, with only one antenna connection. In fact, with the T-Mobile agreement that emerged today, we will now see this situation on phones.

In this way, whether you are in the heart of the city or at the top of Everest in the storm, thanks to the innovation that will be put into service next year, if you have a 5G supported phone, you will be able to connect directly via satellite without the need for a base station.

In other words, thanks to this agreement, all smartphones turn into satellite phones. Moreover, according to T-Mobile, its customers will not need to upgrade to an additional package and pay the price difference.

Of course, it is currently unknown which operators will switch to this service in the coming years and whether Starlink will bring satellite phone service, although it plans to operate in many regions of the world, including our country.
