Students in the earthquake zone will be transferred to the provinces they want!

The Ministry of National Education took decisions in order to carry out the works in the disaster areas more effectively and efficiently after the education and training was suspended in all schools and non-formal education institutions affiliated to the Ministry due to the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and affected many provinces in the region.

Accordingly, after the earthquake, students (parents) living in the region will be able to transfer to schools in the provinces of their choice, if they wish. In other words, they will be able to continue their education in the provinces they want throughout Turkey, regardless of their residential address.

The statement said:

“Transfers of students registered in pre-school and primary education institutions in the provinces in the disaster area will be made via the e-School system by the school directorates, with the coordination of the provincial/district national education directorates, within the scope of the “Transfer Due to Natural Disaster” option, regardless of their residential address information.

In order to ensure that students studying at secondary education level in the provinces in the disaster area have a high level of access to education throughout Turkey, in case of their request, according to the provisions of the 6th paragraph of Article 23 of the Ministry of National Education Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions titled “Student Placement and Transfer Commission”, provinces/districts can be admitted to schools throughout Turkey. It will be ensured that they are placed by the transfer commissions without causing any grievances.

Again, in the provinces in the disaster area, according to Article 58 of the Ministry of National Education Secondary Education Institutions Regulation, titled “Responsibly passing the grade and removing responsibility”, the responsibility exams that must be held within the first two weeks of the second term will be planned by the governorships according to the same procedures and principles after the education and training begins.

In addition, within the framework of the decisions taken, the exams of other private education institutions operating within the scope of the Law on Private Education Institutions No. 5580 in the said provinces were postponed until 13 February 2023.

On the other hand, the Motor Vehicles Driving School (MTSK) e-Exam sessions to be held on 7-12 February 2023 will be held at a later date throughout Turkey, the science and art centers (BILSEM) exams will be held on 13 February 2023 throughout Turkey, and by a later date in the provinces in the disaster area. The journeyman and mastership exams held in vocational and technical secondary education institutions were also postponed to a later date.

In this process, the activities of guidance and research centers in all provinces and psychosocial support activities for the students and their families affected by the earthquake will continue. Necessary measures will be continued to keep formal and non-formal education institutions throughout Turkey, especially schools and annexes located in the earthquake zone and approved for use by governorships, open to meet the accommodation and food needs of citizens.
