Stanley Kubrick rolled up his sleeves in 1969 for the movie about the epic hero of the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon Bonaparte, but the movie was canceled by the production company MGM before the lead roles were even announced. This movie, which was expected to make a big impact, tried to be revived with artificial intelligence technology after Kubrick’s death in 1999, but failed.
In 2016, Steven Spielberg, the director of successful productions such as Jurassic Park, announced that they started working on the series in partnership with HBO and Cary Joji Fukunaga.
