Spotify, which has recently received criticism with the news that it will remove many free features in order to force people to buy Premium, is now on the agenda with performance problems on iOS devices. Let’s take a look at the details together.
Spotify community forum is full of complaints about performance issues
Spotify seems to have been causing problems for iOS users for a long time. Reports of the app’s performance issues have been flooding the company’s community forum for weeks. Spotify officially acknowledged the problem, but no information was given about when it would be fixed.
The music streaming platform says it has received many complaints from iOS users about Spotify crashing and stopping playback in the middle of a song. Two weeks ago, the company stated that the issue affected Spotify iOS app version 8.8.72.623 and above and was being investigated.
Spotify has since released three new updates to its iOS app, and it carries the current version number 8.8.78. These latest updates all offer general improvements, so it’s clear that the platform is trying to fix the problem but hasn’t identified it yet.
iOS users still seem to experience crashes and random playback disruptions. While many comments in the community thread about the issue are from as far back as a few hours ago, some date back to months ago. For example, one user said, ““The app has been updated 4 or 5 times in the last few weeks and none have resolved this issue.” says.
Another user also “I am also a premium customer and even though months have passed, the problem has not been resolved” says. When a user tries to download while listening to a playlist, he reports that the app stops playing or crashes for iOS. The user stated that the issue occurs on most iOS devices.
We should also point out that a significant portion of the complaints come from users with old iPhones such as iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Additionally, some iPad and iPod Touch users also express their complaints about the application crashing during use. The Spotify team is actively investigating the issue, but as of now there is no solution.
