Sports betting: How I won 148,000 euros with a stake of 31 euros – football

Marc Böhme’s eyes still light up when he thinks back to April 2017. It was the month that would change everything. The then 26-year-old sent a total of seven large combination betting slips into the race. Seven so-called “shopping lists”. Each of them has its own betting jackpot.

The total stake: relatively low. A total of 31.20 euros, divided into 17-series station wagons and upwards. All built according to the same system. Lots of games, either to win or to score over goals. Böhme about his favorite bet: “Back then it was still a great thing – without the video referee the doorbell rang much more often.” As an example, he cites the two 3: 3 draws between Stuttgart and Dresden as well as Leverkusen and Wolfsburg. The prediction of over 2.5 goals was exceeded. Leipzig – at that time still in the 2nd division – defeated Darmstadt 4: 1 and made the handicap win just as easily perfect as Galatasaray Istanbul and Leicester City the normal win bets.

Twelve games had already been successfully ticked off. The dream of big money then seemed to be destroyed in the Italian Cup. In the Rome derby, AS needed a win by at least two goals to make up for the 2-0 defeat of Lazio in the first leg. Böhme bet on the Roma – and they conceded the 1: 2 through Ciro Immobile in the 56th minute. But Mohamed Salah turned the game around with a brace and scored the 3-2 winner in stoppage time. While Böhme completely freaked out, the cheers from the goalscorer were muted. Because Rome was eliminated despite the victory.

For the self-confessed Hertha fan, the calculated 0-1 defeat of his favorite team at Borussia Mönchengladbach followed, a loose victory tip on Arsenal (3-0 against West Ham United) and an over-goal game between Chelsea and, which was already successful at halftime Manchester city. At this point in time, Böhme could have had all seven notes paid out for a five-digit (!) Amount. The Berliner remembers: “The notes ran for several weeks, and the cashout increased with every successful bet. On the one hand it was awesome, of course, but on the other hand it was also very stressful. Sleepless nights, endless discussions with friends and the thought over and over again: ‘What do I do now?’ ”His decision: He let go. Böhme: “When do you get the opportunity to shave the betting providers like that?”

One of the jackpot tickets: 18 out of 20 games were right here. Cashout offer (top right): almost 60,000 euros. For the 17 combination below, almost 35,000 euros are offeredPhoto: private

The fourth from last game was again Lazio Rome. This time in Serie A against SSC Napoli, Böhme needed at least three goals. After the early 1: 0 by Napels Jose Callejon and the 2: 0 by Lorenzo Insigne in the 51st minute, only one goal was missing. But that’s exactly what Böhme waited in vain: “Naples only played the marble backwards, Lazio surrendered. Then four minutes of stoppage time were displayed – and I was so mad at myself that I went to the door to throw the laptop out of the apartment. ”Instead, Böhme threw it on the floor. Because: Insigne simply pulled again from 30 meters and nailed the ball to make it 3-0 into the net. Böhme can still remember these moments: “It was 10:50 pm. I screamed the entire neighborhood. “

The result: The cashout rose to 60,000 euros. And only three games were still open. When he thought it couldn’t be more turbulent, the Champions League event suddenly came around the game between Borussia Dortmund and AS Monaco. Böhme needed at least three hits again: “And thanks to Kylian Mbappe, they were as sure as the Amen in church.” But, as is well known, things turned out differently. Bomb attack on the BVB bus, the game canceled – and most of the cashouts blocked. Then the rescheduling for the following day. “There were rumors that the players just wanted to push the ball to each other in protest,” said Böhme. So he used the opportunity that at least one cashout was available, thus securing 18,000 euros. The amen in the church still worked out in the end, so that the payout options rose to unimagined heights.

Böhme calculated and calculated. Again and again with the same result. He’d have to be crazy not to take some of the money. And had another betting slip paid out for 60,000 euros. “After all, it was about the beginning of a new life.” Böhme needed a win for Chelsea against Tottenham. 1-0 for Chelsea in the third minute, so he decided to bet 20,000 (!) Euros on an X2. Means: If Chelsea wins, the “jackpot tickets” stay running. If Tottenham wins, Böhme will pocket 20,000 euros. The same game again after the 2-1 for Chelsea. The game finally ended 4: 2 for the “Blues”, 40,000 euros were gone, but the big bills continued to run.

The day of the day should come: April 23, 2017, 4 p.m. FA Cup semi-final between Arsenal FC and Manchester City. For Böhme it was clear: “I wanted the doorbell to ring. Over 2.5 goals with such an offensive team. I was sure that it would work. But then the referee came … “Two clear penalties were not given in the first half, nor was a regular goal. It’s good that Marc had already secured under 2.5 goals with another 20,000 euros before the game. Two quick goals to make it 1-1 in the second half. Another 10,000 euros for “no goal in the rest of the season”, with a quota of over 3. It was already clear: Böhme would make a huge profit with his safeguards and early payouts. Post Yaya Toure, Latte Yaya Toure – the very, very big luck did not materialize, because the 1: 1 cost the Berliners the maximum payout of 400,000 euros.

In the end, there was still a profit of 148,000 euros from just 31.20 euros “initial stake”. And the beginning of a new life, for which Böhme bought a new car and an apartment. Thanks to his successful “shopping list”.
