Spahn continues for booster vaccinations on a broader front – employers demand vaccination summits as soon as possible

the Doctors in Germany see themselves prepared for significantly more Corona booster vaccinations in winter, but insist on clear prerequisites. “That is feasible, we can do it,” said the head of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), Andreas Gassen, on Tuesday in Berlin. Since the recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) for refreshments, including for older people aged 70 and over, the number of practices ordering vaccines has risen to more than 30,000. Deviating non-medical vaccination recommendations were confusing, which also complicates practice processes.

Orderly invitation procedures for vaccinations are necessary. Gassen also called for more flexible options for practices when ordering vaccine and handling larger vaccine vials.

Vaccination boosters (“boosters”) are possible at least six months after a full vaccination. For the time being, Stiko recommends it for people aged 70 and over.According to a decision by the federal and state health ministers, they can also be offered to older people aged 60 and over, corona risk groups and people who have been vaccinated with Astrazeneca and Johnson & Johnson. In principle, according to the vaccination ordinance, they are also possible for all other people.
