The debate began with Schwartz criticizing Wright’s views on institutional adoption of Bitcoin.

Self-proclaimed Satoshi, Wright later responded to the Ripple CTO, accusing him of being ignorant of finance, legal frameworks, institutional investment banking, and Bitcoin in general.

Tensions began to escalate when Wright claimed that the company was running a “useless pumping and dumping scheme.” “The most useless pumping and dumping scheme in this entire industry,” he tweeted.

Schwartz alleges that Wright abused the legal system to steal intellectual property and defame those who disagreed with his views on Bitcoin. The Ripple executive, on the other hand, criticized Wight as a “despicable coward” who sues people for sharing his ideas.

In response to such accusations, Wright argued that any allegations made against him must be supported by real evidence, otherwise it could be considered slander.

The controversy then centered around XRP and its legitimacy, with Wright accusing Ripple of failing to show how their technology was used anywhere other than in paid trials.

Wright then made the bold claim that he plans to conduct an “academic analysis of XRP” in 2023 that will “show how dishonest the system is”. Wright also predicted that Ripple would lose against the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
