Samsung has lost trust in Samsung! What’s going on? – SDN

As it is known, Samsung has been using more than one platform on its phones for a long time. For example, some versions of the Galaxy S22, which was released this year, welcomed us with Snapdragon 8 Gen1 +, on the other hand, it also used the Exynos 2200 processor. On the Galaxy S23 series, which will be released next year, we will not see the Exynos signature. So what’s going on on Samsung’s processor production side? Let’s see together!

Samsung is experiencing insecurity within itself!

Won-joon Choi, who joined the Samsung team from Qualcomm and served as the Vice President of the Strategic Product Development Team for a while, took over the head of the department in recent weeks. This name has its signature under new technologies such as foldable phones. This name, which has been playing an active role in Samsung since 2016, is currently preparing to make changes within the company as well as focusing on new generation technologies such as 6G.

The tradition of presenting both Qualcomm and MediaTek processors in the same model, which we see in Samsung phones every year, was not continued this time. On the contrary, a special series-oriented Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chip is being developed in partnership with Qualcomm for Galaxy S23 phones.

So why is there no Exynos in the Galaxy S23 series?

In fact, with a simple thought, it can be concluded that Qualcomm processors are better. However, this would be an erroneous inference. Samsung used to keep Exynos processors exclusive to its phones until a few years ago. Now the situation has changed, Exynos processors can be used by other brands such as Meizu and Vivo. While the company’s phone division has relied on Samsung System LSI for years in the development of processors, confidence seems to have been shaken as a result of such strategic changes.

Rumors indicate that a new processor development team will be established within Samsung’s mobile division. In this context, more optimized and stable Exynos processors will be produced for Galaxy phones. In this way, a strategic path can be followed with Samsung-signed chips that will be used in the future. Won-joon Choi will be the head of the department and will lead the R&D studies.

Exynos processor used in Galaxy phones

Samsung seems to skip Exynos processors in 2023 and 2024 within the scope of the changes made. In 2025, the company is expected to come out with an ambitious Exynos processor specific to Galaxy phones. It is not yet known whether the new processors will be produced by TSMC or by Samsung Semiconductor.

So what do you think about these changes? Do you think Samsung will be able to come up with a processor that surpasses Snapdragon? Don’t forget to share your ideas with us in the comments section!
