We share the two models with the world at the same time, together with the video we shot before the launch. You can watch our Galaxy Z Flip 4 preview video on the Green Robot YouTube channel.

We can say that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is a facelifted version of the Fold3 where the features have been improved and the hinge and screen cover have been changed. Of course, Z Fold4 has many software improvements along with Samsung Dex. I will talk about all of them in the video.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, which has an even more advanced feeling of opening and closing, also gets its share of improvements such as processor and camera. Now we start our preview video with the design.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 comes in black, gray and beige color options. The phone, which weighs 263 grams, has a thickness of 16.3 mm in the closed state.

Galaxy Z Fold4, whose screen is 7.56 inches when open, has a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The product, which comes with a 120 Hz infinitely flexible display, also draws attention to the camera placed under the screen.

Using the Infinity O screen on the outer screen when the Fold is folded 4, Samsung has placed the camera under the screen so that there is no split in the screen experience when the phone is folded. In the image, as the perspective changes, the camera area becomes clear, but it feels nice to continue the screen experience instead of the hole in the camera.

When the screen of Galaxy Fold 4 is open, a resolution of 2176 x 1812 pixels is offered. Thus, the screen offers a pixel density of 373 ppi.

When you use the Galaxy Fold 4 in the folded position, the outer screen size is 6.2 inches with a resolution of 2316 x 904 pixels. The PPI value is 374. Both screens have a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

New interface to Fold!

We have already reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 + model. With Dex, Samsung offers users an interface close to the computer. This experience enters our lives with the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Along with the bottom bar, there are application shortcuts, just like in Windows or Mac OS. In addition, with the newly developed finger movements, you can divide the screen to fit 3 applications. Switching between apps is much easier. The large screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 can thus be used more functionally.

In addition, Samsung has made adaptations to its own applications according to the Galaxy Z Fold4. When you fold the phone halfway, half of the screen shows the camera, and with the other half you can see the photos you took or the camera settings.

By attaching an S-Pen supported case to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which comes with S-Pen support, you can use the pen as you can on the Galaxy S22 Ultra or Galaxy Note models.

Camera

Samsung has also updated the cameras of the Galaxy Z Fold4. The main camera of 12 Megapixel resolution in Z Fold3 has been replaced by a new 50 Megapixel camera.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 has 3 cameras on the back. The main camera is 50 Megapixels.

The ultra-wide-angle camera is 12 Megapixels. The tele lens of Fold 4, which supports 3X optical zoom along with the telephoto lens, is 10 Megapixels. Of course, we can zoom in even more with digital support. But after a certain point the quality deteriorates.

When we look at the front camera of Galaxy Fold 4, while the phone is folded, the camera inside the Infinity O screen is 10 Megapixels. The camera hidden under the screen, which is used when the screen is on, is 4 Megapixels. With this new technology, you can use the camera with minimum loss from the screen. But the front camera on the cover provides a better performance. The camera hidden inside the screen is not as successful as the other front camera.

Galaxy Z Fold4, which offers 4K 60 FPS video recording support, especially 8K 24 FPS video recording, also has optical image stabilization support.

Samsung seems to have brought the S series and Fold series a little closer by making some more updates on the camera side.

Performance

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with 12 GB of RAM. The internal memory option will be between 256 GB and 1 TB.

Since we experienced the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which comes with the Android 12 operating system, before its launch, we experienced it with engineering sample software.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, which has 8 cores in total, is produced with 4 nm technology. The processor’s top-performing core runs at 3.18 GHz, while the other cores run at 2.7 and 2 GHz.

On the graphics side, Adreno 730 running at 900 MHz was used. The processor, which has a successful performance in the popular games we have experienced, successfully feeds both high resolution and large screen.

On the screen, you see both the game performance and the scores it received in popular performance tests. Of course, since the product is an engineering example, the numbers may change positively after release.

Connectivity features

Supporting connection technologies such as 6 GHz, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS and 5G along with WiFi 802.11ax, Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a USB Type C physical connection unit.

The fast charging support of Galaxy Fold 4, which will not have a charger in the box, is 25 Watt. The battery is placed in a distributed manner on both parts of the phone, which uses a 4400 mAh battery. This has a nice effect on the weight balance.
