Russia’s war against Ukraine – all developments

According to a survey, every sixth German is in favor of military intervention by the Bundeswehr in the war over Ukraine. 17 percent of those surveyed by the YouGov institute would be in favor of Germany sending troops to Ukraine in response to the situation, as the institute announced on . 63 percent rejected this step rather or completely.

Every second respondent (50 percent) spoke out for sending additional troops to support NATO members in Eastern Europe. 19 percent support German coordination of airstrikes against Russian targets. 65 percent would like it if Germany would impose further economic sanctions.

However, respondents are not in favor of further sanctions at any price: Only 35 percent would support tightening sanctions if that meant raising taxes to cover defense costs. 48 percent would be against it.

According to the survey, 60 percent of Germans are of the opinion that Russia is more or less responsible for the current situation between the two countries. 14 percent give NATO some or all of the responsibility. 13 percent of those surveyed believe that NATO and Russia bear equal responsibility.

YouGov said it surveyed 1,314 voters in Germany at the end of last week. According to the information, the results were weighted and are representative of the German population aged 18 and over.
