Russian IT experts are not wanted in Latvia

Cologne, Riga Deutsche Telekom is fighting for the future of its Russian IT experts. After the majority of the employees were initially accommodated in holiday hotels in Antalya, Turkey, which the group rented specifically for this purpose, Telekom is now working on a long-term solution. In doing so, she encounters problems.

According to information from the Handelsblatt, more than 200 Russians have been transferred to Thessaloniki, Greece. Spain and Hungary also took on some of the Telekom employees. The attempt to accommodate around 400 Russians in the Latvian capital Riga is considered internally to have failed. The country is currently particularly restrictive when it comes to issuing visas to Russian citizens.

Telekom did not comment specifically on the information when asked. The process is complex and not yet complete, it said.
