Vienna Nobody knows how the Ukraine war will end. Nevertheless, the future shape of the country already fires the imagination of Western economists and politicians in many ways. Whether at the beginning of July at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano, at economists’ conferences or at EU meetings – high-flying plans are always being made at conferences as to what kind of country Ukraine should be in the future.

Ecological, constitutional, democratic, liberal and a role model for gender equality. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, sees the future of the Eastern European state in such a perfect way. Only the Russian occupiers, they have to go first.
