Ray Tracing move for Exynos 2200 from Samsung!

Samsung is preparing to introduce its latest flagship Galaxy S22 series. Generally, the company’s high-end devices have two different versions, Snapdragon and Exynos models. Most of the European and Asian markets, including Turkey, have their own processor family Exynos in the region.

Of course, this may vary depending on the model or stock status of the smartphone. It was said that Samsun will only use Qualcomm’s processors in its flagship models this year, especially due to the chip crisis in recent years. But today, the company introduced its new processor series.

Exynos 2200, the processor of the Galaxy S22 introduced

Samsung has officially introduced the Exynos 2200 processor, which is supported by AMD RDNA 2 architecture, which it will also use in the Galaxy S22 series.

Samsung introduced the Exynos 2200 chip with AMD RDNA 2!

The Exynos 2200 would be introduced with an event that would normally take place on January 11. However, the company had quietly canceled the event without even giving notice. After 1 week, Samsung today introduced the Exynos 2200, its first mobile processor with AMD RDNA 2 powered GPU that will allow Ray Tracing and other gaming features.

This chipset is expected to be used in the Galaxy S22 models, which are said to be released at the Unpacked event that the company will hold on February 8. This processor, which emerged with Samsung’s 4 nanometer production process, will come with AMD’s Xclipse GPUs.

Meanwhile, the CPU will use three performance- and efficiency-balanced Cortex-A710 large cores and four power-efficient Cortex-A510 small cores, along with a high-power Cortex-X2 flagship core. As for the image processor, it will support camera sensors of up to 200 megapixels, such as the Isocell HP1, which was announced last September.

AMD and Samsung announced a collaboration in 2019 with the expectation that AMD’s graphics technology will be used in Exynos smartphone processors. Rumors in early 2021 also suggested that AMD-powered Samsung processors would be coming soon. At Computex, AMD confirmed that a new Exynos mobile-on-chip system will feature RDNA 2 graphics technology.

After that, the chipset introduced today appeared. Making a statement on the subject, AMD Senior Vice President David Wang said that Samsung’s Xclipse GPU is the result of multiple planned AMD RDNA graphics generations on Exynos chips.

In the past years, almost everyone turned to Qualcomm when they had a choice, as Samsung’s Exynos series was inferior in performance to the Snapdragon chip found in the devices it sold in the USA. But this year, many people showed more interest in the model with Exynos as they wanted to try the Ray Tracing feature for the first time, and because of the trust in AMD.
