Disenchantment – that is probably the appropriate word at the end of another corona year. The pandemic will continue to determine our lives in the coming year, politically, economically and, above all, socially. And should the situation relax again in the spring, what remains in any case is the general feeling of vulnerability – and in particular also astonishment at a culture of debate that one would hardly have thought possible in this country, in a middle-class society.
A debate somewhere between the culture war and the religious war. The rationality that Germans are so fond of claiming has remained and remains largely by the wayside.
There are those who continue to trivialize the dangers of the pandemic without any scientific knowledge, while at the same time attaching absurd importance to the possible harmful side effects of a vaccination.
