Mr. Stoltenberg, during your long tenure you have been to Germany countless times. Did you learn something this time that you didn’t know before?

I always like being in Germany. There were no big surprises, but that’s what I like about Germany: It’s a very stable NATO partner and will remain so. Germany is the strongest economic power in Europe, and if it increases its efforts for NATO, it makes a big difference.

Before Russia’s war of aggression, the Germans were considered extremely reticent, sometimes timid, when it came to tough questions of military power – because of the history of Nazism and World War II. Has the “turning point” changed German society?
