new York According to long-serving US General Wesley Clark, Russian President Vladimir Putin is conducting the war in Ukraine in a very unprofessional manner – also due to a lack of experience. Putin doesn’t understand anything about warfare, he said in an interview with the Handelsblatt. So far he has only led the Russian military on small operations such as the annexation of Crimea. “He didn’t do all the planning, reconnaissance and organization required for a major military operation,” he said.

Clark, who commanded NATO forces in Kosovo in 1999, said Putin saw himself as Stalin. “He thinks he has the Red Army in 1945,” he said. But he has modern soldiers who are connected to the world via the Internet and who do not know the brutality of war.
