The Russian President is running out of options in the economic war with Europe.

Brussels The Russian President’s message was combative, but the tone in which he delivered it was dispassionate. It will not be possible to isolate Russia, Vladimir Putin said at an economic forum in Vladivostok on Wednesday. He spoke of the West’s “sanctions fever” and “aggressive attempts to impose a behavioral model on other countries, depriving them of their sovereignty”.

The opposite will happen, Putin assured his audience – state guests from China, Mongolia, Myanmar and other countries. The “strengthening of our sovereignty” is “an inevitable result of what is happening right now”. His country has and will not “lose anything” from the war, Putin said. But the unemotional lecture seemed as if doubts were plaguing him.

Putin is under pressure. In its defensive struggle against the Russian army, the Ukraine is reporting gains in territory, and the Russians are running out of options in the economic war with Europe.
