Berlin The clock is ticking. Owners only have six weeks to submit their property tax returns. Not only for citizens, also for companies time is running out. Because they are already facing major challenges as a result of the energy crisis.

Several large associations are now sounding the alarm in letters to the Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) and the state finance ministers, which are available to the Handelsblatt: The deadline for the property tax return urgently needs to be extended in view of the burden on companies. The tax union and the Federal Chamber of Tax Advisors also warn of chaos if the previous deadline of October 31 is adhered to. There is even talk of a “collapse of the tax offices”.

The letter from the Mittelstand working group to the finance ministers of the federal and state governments states that the corona and energy crises have drained the substance of many companies. In the currently extremely challenging situation, any additional and avoidable bureaucratic burden must urgently be avoided.
