Peugeot 3008 and 5008 with 48V hybrid technology came to Turkey

Peugeot started to offer its new 48V hybrid technology for sale in Turkey in the 3008 models in the C-SUV segment and the 5008 models in the D-SUV segment. While both models are offered for sale only with the GT equipment package in our country, the sporty design is supported by dynamic elements.

The starting price of the Peugeot 3008 GT 1.2 HYBRID 136 HP e-DCS6, which has been in showrooms since October, was determined as 2,196,000 TL, while the price of the Peugeot 5008 GT 1.2 HYBRID 136 HP e-DCS6 was determined as 2,426,500 TL.

Hybrid Peugeot 3008 and 5008 in Turkey!

According to the news in futureflow.life, new electric solutions, including the new hybrid system designed by Stellantis and expected to be used in many models in the near future, are first offered on Peugeot 3008 and 5008 produced at the Sochaux Factory. Peugeot 48V HYBRID system consists of a new generation 136 HP PureTech gasoline engine, an electric motor and a new 6-speed oil-cooled dual-clutch electric transmission.

With its battery charging while driving, this technology provides extra torque at low engine speeds and reduces fuel consumption by up to 15 percent. Thus, in the C-SUV segment equipped with a hybrid system, more than half of the driving time can be spent in 0-emission electric mode during urban driving.

Peugeot 3008 and 5008 are getting electrified!

Peugeot electrifies 3008 and 5008 models. The brand added new engine options as the first step of this electrification process.

In the new technology, the driver can see energy transitions (ECO-POWER-CHARGE) while driving via the PEUGEOT i-Cockpit digital display. In daily driving, internal combustion and electric motors work together or separately to optimize energy consumption.

During instant acceleration, the electric motor provides additional torque to the gasoline engine at low revs. During deceleration, the gasoline engine stops and the electric motor works as a generator to charge the 48V battery. The vehicle moves only with a 100 percent electric motor during short distances and maneuvers in the city.

With the new technology, up to 15 percent lower fuel consumption and emission data of 126 g CO2/km in the 3008 and 128 g CO2/km in the 5008 can be achieved. An SUV in the C segment with the hybrid engine option in question provides average fuel savings of up to approximately 1.0 lt/100 km, compared to a non-electric gasoline engine with similar features.

While this saving basically provides an advantage of up to 2.5 lt/100 km in the city and 0.7 lt/100 km on the road, highway consumption remains the same. This performance means an average reduction of 20 g/km in CO2 emissions of the 3008 and 5008 models.

The hybrid system enables fully electric driving, maneuvering and low speed when the battery charge is sufficient. With its hybrid technology, it provides 0 emissions and 100 percent electric driving for more than half of the driving time in urban driving.

At higher speeds (up to 145 km/h), the internal combustion engine stalls when the driver takes his foot off the accelerator or slows down at a constant speed. When the driver requests acceleration at low revs, the electric motor provides additional torque that compensates for the reaction time of the turbo.

This also prevents downshifting and provides greater driving comfort and dynamism. All parts that make up the new engine of Peugeot 3008 and 5008 are located under the hood, in addition to the 48V battery located under the driver’s seat.

The technical specifications of the new generation Hybrid 1.2-liter PureTech gasoline engine, optimized for electric conversion, are listed as follows:

  • 1199 cc 3-cylinder
  • 136 HP (100 kW) power at 5500 rpm
  • 230 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm
  • Variable geometry turbocharger for improved engine performance
  • Cam chain for low maintenance costs
  • Miller Conversion Cycle for better thermal combustion efficiency
  • Euro 6.e standard

It features a new, electric 6-speed, oil-cooled dual-clutch transmission designed specifically for the Peugeot 48V HYBRID engine. The transmission also houses the electric motor, inverter and Electronic Control Unit, which optimizes the car’s power and consumption to improve driving performance.

The permanent magnet synchronous electric motor integrated into the transmission offers 21 kW (28 HP) maximum power and 55 Nm maximum torque. It enables the vehicle to move completely electrically in low torque requirements and helps reduce the consumption of the internal combustion engine.

During deceleration, the engine acts as a generator to charge the 48V battery of the hybrid system. At the same time, it starts the internal combustion engine with the help of a belt starter. Starting with 48V allows the internal combustion engine to be restarted with the belt. This ensures a fast and smooth start.

The 48V Lithium-Ion battery has a gross capacity of 898 Wh and a usable capacity of 432 Wh. The battery is located under the left front seat. This setup offers the following advantages over the rear seat setup:

  • More space in the cabin,
  • More volume in the trunk,
  • Energy losses depending on the length of the cables are optimized,
  • Superior driving pleasure is offered thanks to the balanced weight distribution (battery in the center of the vehicle).

Peugeot 3008 and 5008 include two different electrical installations. Low voltage 12V installation is used to power the vehicle equipment and high voltage 48V installation is used to feed the hybrid system. Electricity is produced only by the 48V e-motor.

A DC voltage converter is activated to transfer the generated electricity to the vehicle’s 12V system. Equipped with the new hybrid engine, which includes the same equipment as the current GT equipment, Peugeot 3008 and 5008 also feature a special dial on the digital instrument panel.

The digital display shows fully electric driving (Blue Speedometer), energy flow in the system, battery charge level, energy transitions (ECO-POWER-CHARGE) on the dial on the right and the percentage of the distance traveled by the electric motor at any time or at the end of the journey. These models will also be available with an AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alert System), which emits external sounds at speeds up to 30 km/h to alert pedestrians and cyclists that the vehicle is approaching.
