Oldest Galaxy Ever Discovered

The James Webb Space Telescope made one of the most important discoveries in the first week of its mission. The telescope allowed us to observe the oldest galaxy ever discovered.

It was launched last December 25, 14 years late from the first planned launch date. James Webb Space Telescoperecently managed to enchant the whole world. Showing the first color photographs he took, James Webb also made his first major discovery, in search of the first light of the universe, while he was just beginning his service.

The James Webb Space Telescope has discovered the oldest galaxy ever detected. In the discovery that will reprint science books Galaxy named GLASS-z13 detected. Galaxy reflected in red in James Webb’s lens is 13.5 billion years old announced. So this galaxy started to form only 300 million years after the Big Bang.

Moreover, the discovery was among the first data obtained by the telescope’s infrared NIRcam instrument. In the clearest deep space photo released last week, the galaxy in question was not included. When the image from NIRcam is translated from infrared to the visible spectrum, the galaxy is red, with white in the middle was visible.

With the new discovery, the James Webb Space Telescope has also proven that it can achieve its purpose. The main purpose in the development of the Space Telescope was to detect the oldest light in the universe, that is, the first light in the universe. James Webb has only been a week started to function fully functionally.
