The Minister of Interior of the Republic of Turkey, Süleyman Soylu, made a statement about the old identity cards at the Ankara Keçiören District Population Directorate today. Süleyman Soylu announced that there will be no more transactions in banks without the new identity cards that have been changed since 2017.

Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, in a statement in Ankara today, announced that old identity cards will no longer be considered invalid in banks. Soylu also stated in his statement that they are working together with the Banking Regulation and Supervision Board (BDDK) to regulate the identities.
Süleyman Soylu also stated that this year, 146 million transactions were made via e-Government. In addition, he said in their statements that they have issued 6 million new driver’s licenses and 12 million new identity cards. The new identity cards, which were started to be distributed in 2017, and the validity of old IDs were given until 2023.
