Students, especially those who are socio-economically disadvantaged, were deprived of education due to inequalities of opportunity. This caused many children not to receive a proper education in this process.

Among the issues that the report focuses on, students who are in a socio-economically disadvantaged position not being able to reach the necessary materials for distance education, issues such as not being able to get support from their parents and not having their own workspace.

These students are less likely to pursue higher education

While the report emphasizes that students in the disadvantaged group are less likely to continue their higher education; children of immigrant families noted that this rate is much higher. Another important point in the report was that digital education increased these inequalities.

Drawing attention to the fact that schools are closed for longer periods in countries where the education system is underperforming, the report also included information on how much OECD countries invested in education during the pandemic. According to this 60 percent of OECD countries increased the budgets they spend on education during the pandemic.
