Not for regional museums! Nazi horses from RLP come to Berlin | Regional

Mainz / Berlin – The now world-famous “Nazi horses”, which were discovered in 2015 by a businessman in Bad Dürkheim, are not coming back to RLP, but to a Berlin museum.

Why do you ask yourself whether there aren’t suitable museums here too to present the two larger-than-life horses (each 3.50 meters high, 4 tons in weight)?

Definitely no, as BILD found out! None of the houses specializes in modern times or has large rooms suitable for presentation.

The plan is now: In May 2022, the two bronze sculptures “Striding Horses” by the sculptor Josef Thorak (1889-1952) – once created for Hitler’s Imperial Chancellery – will move to the Spandau Citadel. They will be part of the exhibition “Unveiled. Berlin and its monuments ”. Museum boss Urte Evert: “The opening is not expected before autumn 22nd.”

Since the giant horses are too big even for the space of the current exhibition on National Socialist monuments, a new exhibition room is being prepared in the “Queen Bastion”.
