The bug on the Google side is called “Acropalypse”. This error keeps the 4-5 steps prior to the photo in its memory and shows you that version of the photo if requested. However, when we look at the error in Windows 11, the situation is different. The Windows 11 Snipping Tool application leaves behind unused data instead of cutting it completely. Thus, the part you thought was gone when you cropped your photo is actually still silently waiting on your computer. This makes it possible to reach the first version of that photo.
