Berlin “Finally retiring, finally stop paying taxes.” Many people look forward to this when they have just left their working life behind. But increasingly they are wrong with this hope. Because meanwhile more and more pensioners are liable to pay taxes.
It is understandable that some of those affected are asking themselves the question of possible double taxation. After all, they have paid into the pension fund from their already taxed income from work.
As early as May, the Federal Fiscal Court had issued an initial judgment in which it stated that double taxation for the retirees from 2025 cannot be ruled out. He also gave advice on which factors may and may not be used in the calculation. Now the Supreme Court has given even more clues in another case.
