New in the cinema: “The salvation of the world we know”: Love in the loony bin – cinema

At some point our super star Til Schweiger (57) sits in the bathroom – and poops! It blows and farts and babbles. He laughs, his kids laugh – and the audience. 00Til!

This is not a “Kiji-mea” irritable bowel advertisement, but a relieving laugh break in his latest, courageous, surprising, taboo-breaking love comedy with his new shooting star Emilio Sakraya (25, “4 blocks”, “Tribes of Europe”).

Story: Til is a widower and architect and the father of 3 kids. His oldest (18) freaks out at school, highly intelligent, sensitive, hyperactive – and “bipolar” disrupted, like 1.2 million young people in Germany. Til brings him helplessly desperate to a psycho-clinic – and we all discover a new “crazy” world, with rainbow patients – and with a fairytale happy ending.

With “honey in your head” (7 million cinema fans) Til catapulted the taboo topic “Alzheimer’s” into the big cinema – for laughing and thinking! Now he is lovingly embracing the psychological “tics” of our mentally stressed children – a mega-topic after the pandemic.

Of course, every Til Schweiger film takes us exclusively into its own smiling cosmos of wellbeing – with radiant backlighting, cool designer architecture, slapstick jokes, pillow fights, chases with jeeps through dream landscapes – and crazy love stories! Don’t call it kitsch!

Til Schweiger Land is also a land of fairy tales. It’s “Mon Cheri” with crackling cherry – sweet-bitter, life truths, but please with romantic cinema cream.

That’s why we love the Til Schweiger touch. Not all of them, of course.

The unusual “crazy” dream couple are the action macho Sakraya (also “Bibi & Tina”) and power girl Tijan Marei (24, “Who Am I”, “4 Blocks”). Her crazy love is also the magical escape road movie finale to the liberating sea – and to loving insight. Outsiders become insiders.

Til is of course the film rock around which everything revolves (star, director, screenplay, producer). He howls like a turtle, does not see the love in front of his eyes (Bettina Lamprecht, 44) – but pulls the golden parachute of his happiness.

You go into every Schweiger film with pleasant anticipation. You go out with thoughtful brooding and a smile.

Conclusion: tragic comedy instead of romantic comedy. Til Schweiger rocks the cinema with a brave, crazy romantic love comedy – with a bipolar tic. The secret of the Til-Kino laugh is love. Love is the best medicine.
