Nerve thriller about counting in Turkey election

Ankara Conflicting information about the first projections for the parliamentary and presidential elections in Turkey has caused criticism of the Turkish state media. According to Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, opposition candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu will become Turkey’s new president, replacing incumbent Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

This was shown by the first count results, explained Imamoglu, who, like Kilicdaroglu, belongs to the CHP party. He called on the Turkish population not to heed the election results of the state news agency Anadolu.

The mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavas, also sees Kilicdaroglu ahead. This applies to the counting of almost 24 percent of the votes, said Yavas, who also belongs to the CHP.

Presidential candidate Kilicdaroglu himself was optimistic after counting the first votes in the presidential and parliamentary elections. “We’re ahead,” explains the 74-year-old.
