Kotil: ATAK series is one of the milestones of our defense industry!
TUSAŞ CEO Temel Kotil attended the “Teknofest Stakeholders Meet with Youth Programme” event held in Üsküdar. Kotil, who made a mini presentation to the participating students, stated that the first engine start of the ATAK-2 helicopter was made last Monday night. Then he gave information about ATAK-2.
At the end of the presentation, a surprise was given to the participants. The first engine start moments of ATAK-2 were watched by the participants. Today, images were served to the Turkish people and the press with the title of ATAK-2 first engine start video. According to the video, the engines are perfectly adapted to the ATAK-2 helicopter and work flawlessly. This is quite gratifying.
When is the first flight of ATAK-2?
Mehmet Yılmaz, Chief Product Engineer of the Heavy Class Attack Helicopter Project, from the TAI ATAK-2 engineering team, gave information about the first flight in an interview with Anadolu Agency. Mehmet Yılmaz stated in his interview that they aim to run the engine for 15 hours on the ground before the first flight. In other words, the ground tests of the helicopter have not been completed yet. But let’s also mention that the team is progressing quite fast. Mehmet Yılmaz added that they are planning to make the first flight of the helicopter this week.
