The Russian government is fueling public fears of alleged biological weapons on the Ukrainian side.

New York, Moscow The discussion about biological research laboratories creates new tensions in the Ukraine conflict. The Russian government recently accused Washington of researching bioweapons in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Victoria Nuland has warned that Russian troops could take control of “biological research facilities” in Ukraine. The US government “is working with the Ukrainians on how to prevent these research materials from falling into the hands of Russian forces should they approach,” she told a US Senate hearing on Tuesday.

US Senator Marco Rubio pointed out that there are “Russian propaganda reports” claiming that the Ukrainians want to use NATO with the help of biological weapons. Nuland said it was “a classic Russian technique to blame the other for what you are up to”.
