Nur-Sultan According to official figures, 164 people were killed in the serious unrest in Central Asian Kazakhstan. The state television reported on Sunday, citing the Ministry of Health. In addition, according to official information, more than 2,200 people have been injured in the past few days.

Especially in the metropolis of Almaty in the southeast of the ex-Soviet republic, particularly affected by the riots, around 1,100 people have sought medical help. There is still only sparse independent information.

According to the Ministry of Health, 719 patients were treated in hospitals on Sunday. The condition of 83 people was described as “serious”. The authorities did not provide details of the nature of the injuries. President Kassym-Shomart Tokayev issued an order to shoot protesters on Friday.

The unrest in the ex-Soviet republic, which borders China and Russia, has been going on for a week.
