It is a very sad day for Turkey. The earthquake, which took place in the morning and was declared to be 7.7 in magnitude, unfortunately caused terrible scenes in many cities. According to the statement of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, almost three thousand buildings collapsed in the first stage and approximately one thousand of our citizens lost their lives. While almost the whole world extended a helping hand to the earthquake zone, support from local companies was not delayed. Türk Telekom started a mobilization for communication needs in disaster areas.

Türk Telekom announced the measures taken to ensure uninterrupted communication in all provinces affected by the earthquake and the services that citizens can benefit from to meet their communication needs. Within the scope of earthquake mobilization;

  • In order to meet the urgent needs of the citizens in the region, free calls and internet were installed, and all domestic communication from payphones was made free of charge.
  • Free WiFi internet points were opened in the region.
  • Mobile base stations were dispatched to the region.
  • Within the scope of the studies carried out, portable charger (powerbank) support is provided at Türk Telekom Stores for the smart devices of the citizens.
  • Upon the invitation of AFAD, Türk Telekom Search and Rescue Team (TTAKE) of 105 people moved to the earthquake zone. Tents, blankets and sleeping bags were sent to the region.
  • While field teams continue their work to ensure uninterrupted communication in the provinces affected by the earthquake, it is important to note that communications are made via short message service and internet-based messaging software.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared the current number of dead, injured and destroyed buildings after the Southeast Anatolian earthquake.

After the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş and was felt in the surrounding provinces and other earthquakes around the region, Türk Telekom landed in the earthquake zone with all its teams from all levels. Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Hatay, Adana, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Kilis, Diyarbakır and Malatya were affected by the earthquakes.

Taking all measures to ensure uninterrupted communication, Türk Telekom announced the measures it has taken to meet the communication needs of citizens in the provinces affected by the earthquake.

Emergency communication and mobile communication tools located in priority areas in Kahramanmaraş, where the earthquake was felt most intensely, offer free communication services to the citizens in the region. Upon the invitation of AFAD, Türk Telekom Search and Rescue Team (TTAKE) of 105 people moved to the earthquake area and started to support the search and rescue activities. Tents, blankets and sleeping bags were shipped to the region.

Within the scope of the studies carried out, portable charger (powerbank) support is provided at Türk Telekom Stores for the smart devices of the citizens. While mobile base stations were also sent to the region, free speech and internet were installed so that citizens could meet their urgent needs. WiFi internet points were made available to the locals free of charge. In addition, the mobile, internet and fixed lines of the customers who were closed to communication were opened for calls.
