Dusseldorf Microsoft closes its LinkedIn career network in China. The US company said in a blog post on Thursday. This is justified with a “significantly more challenging work environment and greater compliance requirements” in the country. Linkedin was the last major US social network still available in China.

Linkedin was subject to Chinese internet censorship and repeatedly had to block certain content from human rights activists, journalists and academics. In the future, the company intends to offer a pure job platform in China, where no opinions or media content can be shared.
