Microsoft today Windows, macOS, iOS and Androida new in Defender cybersecurity launched the application. While the software giant has been using the Defender alias for antivirus protection for years, it’s functional across new platforms. Microsoft Defender application is made available to individuals as a simplified dashboard integrated with existing antivirus software.
Microsoft Defender released for Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS and Windows
Microsoft Defender is available to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers today. With different features specific to each platform, the app doesn’t include antivirus protection on iOS and iPadOS, and offers some web phishing protections as well as a dashboard with alerts for other devices.
The application includes antivirus protection and scanning for malicious applications on the Android operating system. The app can also scan links to provide web phishing protection.
on Windows Microsoft Defender on the other hand, it has simpler clipboard features than trying to replace the built-in Windows Security app that everyone knows. You can view your current antivirus protection from Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky or other vendors and manage security protections across devices.
The app also displays security alerts and tips on multiple devices, but this feature is only available on Windows and macOS. The new app may seem “unnecessary” to most users, but it seems useful for those who want to protect family members and multiple devices in one place in a simple dashboard.
