Mexican Billionaire Ricardo Salinas Announces He Is A Big Bitcoin Investor!

Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego announced at a conference in Miami on Thursday that the majority of his liquid portfolio is devoted to Bitcoin, the world’s most valuable cryptocurrency. Pliego’s statement did not go unnoticed by the crypto industry.

Ricardo Salinas Pliego, one of Mexico’s biggest billionaires, has publicly stated that he has invested heavily in the digital currency. The statement in question is one that will undoubtedly please crypto fans, and in this case, Bitcoin enthusiasts.

“I have absolutely no bonds,” the billionaire said. He said that 60% of his liquid portfolio is in Bitcoin and Bitcoin stocks, while 40% is in fixed asset stocks such as oil, gas and gold miners. The famous billionaire did not specify the amount in his liquid portfolio, but this statement makes him one of the first billionaires to announce that he is almost entirely in BTC.

Salinas Pliego runs Mexican TV broadcaster TV Azteca and retailer Grupo Elektra. According to Forbes, Pliego, who is Mexico’s third richest person in 2021, has a net worth of around $12.9 billion.

Billionaires Who Are Bitcoin Fans

Pliego’s recent posts on his Twitter account are about Bitcoin and the crypto industry, which seems to have become one of its major champions. Pliego shared a photo with another billionaire, Michael Saylor, who is also a BTC investor.

The famous billionaire very recently appealed to his 1 million Twitter followers, “Please… don’t leave your future in the hands of the government, you and I know how this will end, stay away from #FIAT money, invest in #btc”. As you can see, he is a full supporter of Bitcoin.

It is worth noting that Salinas is not the first billionaire to invest his personal wealth in BTC. Legendary investor Bill Miller has made a name for himself in the cryptocurrency space when the billionaire and fund manager said that Bitcoin and other cryptos now represent around 50% of his personal assets. Miller also advised individual investors to put at least 1% of their assets in BTC.
