The Florence-based fashion giant had been accepting payments in various cryptocurrencies since May, initially in an effort to attract more crypto-friendly customers after the 2021 bull market. Apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum, it also started receiving payments in smaller cryptocurrencies including Gucci, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, and received positive feedback from the community.

Gucci, which also attracted attention last month by investing $25,000 in the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) of the NFT marketplace SuperRare, seems to be looking to ramp up its work in this area. Gucci also released a series of NFTs in February in partnership with luxury house brand, toy brand Superplastic.
Interest in the Crypto World from the Fashion World is Increasing
Another important name in the fashion world, Dolce & Gabbana also introduced its NFT collection last September. German fashion house Philipp Plein, known for its flashy outfits, started accepting crypto payments last August. In April, the controversial designer behind the brand, Philipp Plein, predicted that his company would make around $16 million from crypto enthusiasts this year.
Launched in March, ApeCoin is the official cryptocurrency of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT ecosystem. The token, which experienced fluctuations after its launch, could not gain sustained momentum. Currently ranked 31st by market cap, APE looks forward to further growth in the future.
