Mercedes-Benz starts electric offensive in the USA

Tuscaloosa, Munich In the production hall in Alabama, the otherwise often cold-looking CEO becomes almost sentimental. “I love it here!” calls Ola Källenius. “I arrived in Alabama as a young finance guy and left with my wife and two kids. Tuscaloosa will always be an important part of our family history.”

In the future, the location will also play an even more important role in the history of Mercedes-Benz. Here, in the deep south of the USA, Mercedes finally wants to go on the offensive when it comes to conquering the USA and the world market with luxury electric vehicles. The Swabians in the USA are still selling hardly any e-cars. The focus is on heavy combustion engines, especially SUVs, the suburban SUVs that are more popular in America than anywhere else. Which is a problem, as they emit far too much CO2. With two offensives, the situation should now change.
