Produced with TSMC’s N6 6nm technology, the Dimensity 1080 processor has 2 2.6GHz ARM Cortex-A78 and 6 2.0GHz ARM Cortex-A55. On the graphical interface side, ARM Mali-G68 MC4 was preferred. MediaTek used ARM Cortex-A78 core with 2.5GHz clock speed in its previous model, Dimensity 1050.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor will support 120Hz screen refresh rate at FullHD Plus resolution. It looks like 120Hz support will become the standard on mid-range devices.
MediaTek announced that up-to-date technologies such as LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 are also supported in its new processor. Smartphone manufacturers will come up with devices with better performance in the middle segment.

The Dimensity 1080 model has Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 (a/b/g/n/ac/ax) support. In satellite connection, GPS L1CA+L5, BeiDou B1I+ B2a, Glonass L1OF, Galileo E1 + E5a, QZSS L1CA+ L5 and NavIC technologies are available.
Smartphone manufacturers will be able to use a 200 Megapixel main camera with the Dimensity 1080 processor. The processor, which allows a quad camera array, offers 4K HDR video recording at hardware level.
