Apple’s 2021 Spring Loaded announced at the launch AirTagallows users to track the instant location of their belongings. German media reported that Lufthansa no longer allows AirTags on checked bags. Lufthansa, which came to the agenda with the Apple AirTag ban, made a statement on the subject.
Accessories such as Apple AirTag, Samsung Galaxy SmartTag and Tile have almost eliminated problems such as theft and loss of items. The devices, which are especially effective in preventing theft, are also used in illegal events.
Lufthansa is on the agenda with Apple AirTag ban
Lufthansa claimed that baggage tracking devices fall under the category of portable electronic devices and are therefore subject to dangerous goods regulations issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The company stated that Apple AirTags should be closed during the flight, just like mobile phones and laptops.
Lufthansa has announced that Apple AirTag owners will be able to deliver their devices to the luggage compartment when they are turned off. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has not yet made a statement on the subject.
Guidelines published by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) state, “If you must put your tablet, mobile phone or laptop in checked baggage, make sure they are fully enclosed.” statements are included.
Analysts underline that AirTags can technically be qualified as a personal electronic device. Therefore, AirTags must be turned off during the flight.
Other airlines have yet to ban tracking devices. AirTag owners reacted to Lufthansa’s decision on social media.
