When it all becomes too much …
Lena Meyer-Landrut (30) became a pop star in 2010. At the tender age of 19 she won the Eurovision Song Contest for Germany with her hit “Satellite”. Five studio albums followed and more than 2.6 million records sold.
But the rapid career success left its mark. The result: Lena retired after ten years of show business and even canceled a tour. In an interview with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin”, she reveals why.

“It was all too much, too strenuous, a constant fist in the face,” she describes the time. “Totally overwhelmed. Far too many impressions, no chance to process them properly. ”
Her way out: “I had to press pause and sit down again”. Was it burn out? “It was brutal exhaustion,” she describes this condition.
During this time she received support from her mother. Lena’s crisis ensured that the two got closer again, before there was always “a certain distance”.
“I have to admit that it was only in the course of this development that I started to believe my mother again. It was good to allow more closeness again, ”says Lena.

Would she do anything differently today? “What’s the point of thinking about it? If there was something, it was. Past is closed. I am someone who talks about the future and thinks about what will become. ”
And what does YOUR future look like? To be grown up. That is why her 30th birthday was “harder” than her 28. Because that was when she said goodbye to her youth. Does she mourn the feeling afterwards? Not at all.
Today she describes herself as a “happy person in change”.
