The American actress Kristen Stewart (31) plays her most demanding role to date in the film “Spencer”: She embodies an essential phase in the tragic life of Princess Diana († 36), namely when she decides to leave Prince Charles (today 72) to separate.
With the “Hollywood Reporter“Speaks Stewart about the challenge of the shooting and draws a tragic comparison. “The only difference between Diana and me is that she was alone and I wasn’t. I had people who gave me support … I had a kind of safety net, ”says Stewart.
“Spencer” is set on a long Christmas weekend in 1991, when the unhappy Diana makes a drastic decision: she wants to separate from husband Charles.
Lady Di became famous as the “Queen of Hearts”, she was revered and valued worldwide for her authentic and warm-hearted manner. She stood up for the poor, the weak, the children – but she is also remembered as a tragic person. Diana broke up under the pressure of the British royal family to carry out the role of the perfect princess, even though her world collapsed behind the thick palace walls.

A role in which “Twilight” star Stewart initially had to settle emotionally, as the circumstances were difficult. “As an outsider, I know everything I know about Diana. There was no way for me to prepare perfectly for the role. I learned the British accent with the help of a voice trainer and took a close look at Diana. I wanted to be as good as possible to her person, ”explains Stewart.
