Berlin The Federal Building Ministry is working on a concept for promoting ownership. A subsidy for new construction is not only designed to promote the construction of climate-friendly residential buildings, but also to “support families in their ownership”, said Federal Building Minister Klara Geywitz (SPD) on Tuesday in her speech in the Bundestag on her ministry’s budget for 2023. “One billion euros are currently available for our company from the climate and transformation fund.”
In their coalition agreement, the SPD, Greens and FDP promised to make it possible for more people in Germany to live in their own homes. In the last legislative period, the Baukindergeld was launched. However, the state subsidy program expired in 2021.

However, owning property protects against rising rents, provides security in old age and serves to build up wealth, according to Luczak. The Union wants to ensure “that Germany does not remain a country of dreams, but becomes a country of owners” with adequate new construction subsidies, hire-purchase models and the “Young buys old” program. FDP construction politician Daniel Föst countered: “It’s good that the new construction subsidy is now in the hands of the Ministry of Construction and thus supports people in a targeted manner in climate-friendly construction.” come into possession”.
