The fact that Nico Schmid would one day take over the family business was always as clear to him as the material he works with: He is the fourth generation to run the Lehmeier glassworks in Rain am Lech (Bavaria).
What fascinates Schmid about the job becomes clear when he describes his different projects: from individually printed kitchen rear walls to entire exhibition rooms to the repair of antique stable doors – glass as a material is versatile.
The machines did not even stand still in the Corona crisis. On the contrary, says Schmid: “Keyword spit protection!” Never before has he installed so many Plexiglas panes as last year. “We are among those who made a profit during the crisis.”
